"In collaboration with the University of Maine Gamma Chapter of Theta Chi, the Delta Nu Chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma has founded the Invisible Illness Initiative.
Our goal in founding this Initiative is to provide awareness and resources to collegiate students who have been personally or indirectly impacted by the effects of Invisible Illness. We have created apparel to honor the impact Gjimiya Pryor had on the lives of those around him, as well as his fellow brothers of The University of Maine chapter of Theta Chi. Our hope is that collected proceeds can help fulfill the Pryor family's wishes to help others who struggle with addiction, mental illness, and the stigma faced by today's LGBTQ+ youth. The charity chosen by the Pryor Family, Live Out Loud, intends to “[nurture and empower] LGBTQ youth to build a successful future by connecting them to positive role models and affirmative experiences'' (Live Out Loud).

The sisters of the Delta Nu chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma want to express our gratitude for the assistance that the Bangor Area Recovery Network (B.A.R.N) provided us through the planning of this fundraiser. Outreach staff worked together with our sisters to collect balanced and up-to-date resources regarding addiction and co-existing Illnesses.

In lieu of the isolating impact the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic has had individuals nationwide, these resources are seemingly more important now than ever. We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has also impacted our Nation economically and that many who wish to donate are unable to purchase Invisible Illness Initiative apparel at this time. 100% of donations sent to the Gamma Sigma Sigma Delta Nu Venmo account will be donated directly to the Live Out Loud Charity in the name of Theta Chi Fraternity.
